When: 4-8th August, 10am – 12 noon every morning of the week

Who: Primary school-age children.  Registration forms go out through our local primary schools and registration is on a first come-first served basis, with an upper limit of 100 places.

The activities:

This year we will be running the Champion's Challenge holiday club, which is a resource from

Scripture Union. Champion's Challenge is a fun and active programme, exploring who Jesus is and what He can mean to us today through drama, craft, games, Bible discovery, small group discussion and more!

The children:

Each year children register for the Barn holiday club through our local primary schools.  As availability allows, children from further afield often join us.  We welcome all children and make provision for those with special needs in accordance with our capabilities and in consultation with families and carers.  Up to 100 children come to holiday club and share a very special week together.

The families:

Holiday club week culminates in an informal family night on the final Friday, when the friends and family of the children who’ve been part of holiday club are invited along to share in some of the fun.  After a time of songs, stories and drama, friends and family are invited to stay with us and enjoy refreshments with the children and the holiday club team.

The team:

A large team of volunteers makes holiday club happen!  Members of the Barn Church, and friends from neighbouring churches, work together in all sorts of ways to make sure that we run a high-quality, fun and safe holiday club.  The Barn Church adheres to the Church of Scotland policy on Safeguarding, which means that all volunteers on the holiday club team undergo a full Disclosure Scotland check.  Qualified First-Aiders are on hand at all times.

The big idea!

We recognise that the summer holidays last a long time!  Through holiday club, we want to offer children a friendly place to come to where they can share in fun and stimulating activities with old friends and new.  We also want to give children the opportunity to find out and decide for themselves about the God of the Bible and his son Jesus.  We hope that through holiday club children will grow in self-esteem, creativity, confidence, enthusiasm and in care for each other and their wider community.  We also want to offer a service of value to parents, guardians and carers during the school holidays, and to extend a welcome to them as well as to their children.
